11/10 Prompt: In letters 6 -10, we see how Celie starts noticing the strength of people around her, like Shug Avery’s independence and confidence. Think about someone in your life who inspires you to be stronger or more confident. What qualities do they have that you admire and try to learn from?

  Prompt Response:  I feel sadness and empathy because no one should have to go through that when they're that young especially from someone who's supposed to be a parental figure. 10/28 Prompt: Before the Civil War, most people saw nothing wrong with children working long hours. Over time, people began to see it as unfair and even cruel. What is something that society once accepted but now sees as wrong, or something we still accept today that might be viewed as wrong in the future? Explain your reasoning.

  Prompt Response:  I think all the fast food restaurants that are everywhere because its really unhealthy and people are getting used to only eating unhealthy food. Summary: Common lit Reflection:  Think off what's in store for the future

10/27 Prompt: . Blake uses the chimney sweepers to expose how society ignores suffering. Reflect on a time when you noticed someone being treated unfairly or saw a situation that didn’t seem right. How does this experience connect to the emotions or ideas expressed in one or both poems?

  Prompt Response:  In movies when a character is beating treated unfairly because of their race or gender. I havent seen something like this in real life but stuff like that happens in real life everyday. Summary: we saw a videos on the little kid that was a chimney sweeper Reflection:  when you see something wrong speak up about it.

  Prompt Response:  When I was little I used to have a big dog and he was friendly but when he saw cats he got angry and violent and it showed me that he could look cute to me but might seem wild to other people and animals.   Prompt Response:  My parents told me that before I was born the doctors said I was going to be born with a lot of difficulties and medical issues but when I was born I came out normal. Summary: We read infant sorrow and infant joy Reflection:  never take your life for granted

  Prompt Response:  A conversation that changed me is when in middle school when I used to always act up and not go to school and then my dad sat me down and told me if I wanted to do something with my life I need to get my education and treat people with respect. Prompt: Troy’s complaint about the unfair job system shows his frustration with racial discrimination. How did this conversation make you think about fairness and opportunity in society today? If you were in Troy’s position, what would you do?

  Prompt Response:  It makes me think of todays jobs system because you have more opportunities based off your education level and your connections because you can have the skills but they don't bother to give you a chance. If I was Troy I would be disappointed. Summary: We read fences Reflection:  Try to do as much for yourself as possible to help you in the long run.

Prompt: Write about a truth you were afraid to accept.

Prompt Response:  A time I was afraid to accept the truth was when the doctor said I wouldn't grow anymore but luckily the doctor was wrong. Summary: We read fences Reflection: I learned to accept myself no matter what.

  Prompt Response:  A time I was judged unfairly was in middle school when a teacher thought I was a bad student because I didn't make a good first impression. Summary: We worked on common lit Reflection:  I now know that first impressions can mean a lot to some people.

Imagine you are learning about Hispanic/Latino heritage for the very first time. What would you be curious to know about the traditions, foods, music, or celebrations?

  Prompt Response:  If I was learning about Hispanic culture the first things I would want to know about are the food and the music because I like listening to music and expanding the type of music I like to listen to and food because I like to eat.   Prompt Response:  I like the one that talked about how people called him something offensive and he was just shook but as he got older he realized it wasn't okay and he needed to stand up for himself. Summary: I learned that everyone has most likely been through something in their life and overcame it in their own way. Reflection:  I learned that if i keep pushing forward I can overcome any obstacle.
