April 13, Prompt: Hair can be a powerful way people express who they are and where they come from. Think about your own hair, your style, texture, or how you choose to wear it.   Prompt Response:  My hair helps me choose the way I express and represent myself. It helps represent my culture because almost everyone in my family has straight hair. A time when I feel proud of my hair is when I get a haircut because it makes me feel fresh and more presentable. Summary: Were going to watch the video Good Hair Perceptions of Racism and answer the worksheet that came with it. Reflection:  Hair holds lots of identity and its important part of you.

April 3, Prompt: If you could plan the perfect spring break with no limitation, money, time, or responsibilities—what would it look like? Where would you go, who would you bring, and what would you do?

  Prompt Response:  If I could have the perfect spring break with no limitations I would like to travel with friends to a beach and spend time outside in nature for the whole week. We would most likely just relax talk and catch up and just have fun. Summary: We worked on common lit. Reflection:  Enjoy every moment of your life.

April 2, Prompt: Throughout your classmates' presentations, you were exposed to a variety of cultural foods and traditions. How did these presentations shape your understanding of different cultures? Share your opinion on what stood out most.

  Prompt Response:  Looking at my classmates presentations and seeing all the different foods that helps connect them to their culture made me see that everyone's culture are different. what may look nasty in your eyes may look good in theirs and is a staple food in their culture with important significance. Summary: We presented our cultural food presentation and also looked at important foods in our classmates cultures. Reflection:  Dont judge people for the food they have in their culture because it might have significant value to them.

March 31, Prompt: Today, we explored how food connects to identity, culture, and belonging across the TED Talk, Fish Cheeks, and the Mississippi Delta film. How does food help individuals understand who they are, especially when they feel caught between cultures or judged by others?

  Prompt Response:  Food helps embraces culture and reminds people of where they're from and helps embrace their roots. It also helps people be reminded of the love that comes with their culture. Summary: We read fish cheeks and saw how its important to embrace your culture and not be embarrassed by it because their lots of importance behind it that you may not realize at first. Reflection:  Dont try to fit in with what everyone thinks is normal and just do your normal.

March 30,Prompt: Why is the choice to serve leftover Chinese food significant in “Lunch”? How could the author have made a more culturally meaningful choice for her grandmother? Use the text to support your answer. Then reflect on a time when you realized you could have done something more meaningful for someone else.

  Prompt Response:  It was significant because it compared plain Chinese food to the food her grandmother would take time to make and put love into. A time I realized I could've did something more was when I used to stay at my grandmas house and I would just play games all day while she cooked and cleaned. I realized I could've helped her just to make her life easier. Summary: We read "Lunch" by Christiana Henrique which talked about the importance of culture and the the impact food can have on it. Reflection:  Dont be embarrassed by your culture and embrace who you really are.

March 12, Prompt: As we move toward the end of the semester, what are your top three college choices right now? Identify the colleges and explain why you are attracted to each one. Even if college is not currently on your radar, you must still respond to the question and explain your thinking.

  Prompt Response:  Im not interested in going to college but I am interested in going to trade school and the top three trade schools I wish to got to are Lincoln tech, Atlanta technical school, and UTI. Summary: We finished up our evidence for the essay we were about to write. Reflection:  Think about your future and have backup plans in case things don't go the way you want them to.

March 10, Prompt: During brainstorming, one idea usually stands out. What is the most interesting or strongest idea you came up with for your essay, and what made you choose it over the others?

  Prompt Response: I chose loss and identity because i feel like thats what stood out to me the most when I was reading the story. I also think its the most important part of the story. Summary:  we brainstormed ideas for our essay and did a cluster bubble assignment. Reflection: Loss and identity can really affect someone

March 9, Prompt: After completing the assignments on making college affordable and finding the best college fit, what is one thing you learned that you did not know before? Why do you think this information is important for seniors to understand?

  Prompt Response: I think it's important to understand to take your time because the decision on what college you choose is a big decision that can have a big impact on your future. Summary: We did common lit on tips on how to find good colleges. Reflection: Taking you time matters when your making a decision that affects the rest of you life.

January 27,Prompt: Write about something you’ve outgrown but still miss.

  Prompt Response: something ive outgrown but still miss is being with my parents all the time and when I could play with toys all day and have no worries in the world. Summary: 3-2-1 activity on the story wild. Reflection: Value the things you do have because you will miss it in the future
